In recent weeks, a lot of effort has been put into properly informing residents living on and around the World Championship route. Resident letters, business letters, community evenings, and personal visits — these are just a few of the measures taken to inform residents, entrepreneurs, and farmers in the World Championship area.
“In addition to the logical questions about accessibility, we have also received a lot of positive feedback. Residents of the municipalities of Beek, Beekdaelen, Meerssen, Voerendaal, Valkenburg, and Maastricht want to know what to expect in terms of accessibility. Once they know this, almost all of them say they see the World Championships as a special event they do not want to miss. Family members are invited to watch the World Championships from the garden, barbecues are fired up, and people are even helping to organize fan zones and parties along the route. That is just wonderful and exactly what we were hoping for,” says George Deswijzen, who is responsible for resident communications on behalf of the organization.
